Zuerst die guten Nachrichten: Es wird mit Good Riddance eine Reunion auf dem Groezrock geben, ausserdem sind Billy The Kill, Thrice, Architects, I Am The Avalanche, The Bouncing Souls, Chixdiggit, Zebrahead und The Ghost Inside neu für das belgische Festival bestätigt. Groezrock Tickets.
Nun zur schlechten Nachricht: Billy Talent sagen ihren Auftritt ab!
Für das Ende April stattfindende Festival steht die Absage bereits fest, die weiteren Shows von Billy Talent in diesem Sommer sind bisher noch nicht betroffen – wir bleiben aber dran, was da eventuell noch kommt.
Auf Facebook beschreibt Billy Talent Schlagzeuger Aaron ausführlich, sogar per Video sein Krankheitsbild. Die Operation lief super, allerdings dauert es mit der Erholung wohl etwas länger als gedacht. Hier auch nocheinmal für Euch „A message from Aaron„:
„I never thought I would have to write another letter like this. In March of 2006, I wrote a letter telling you all I have MS. Now I am writing to tell you that I have a problem with my heart that needed to be fixed. On Feb 2nd, I had open-heart surgery to repair a leaky aortic valve. It’s going to take a couple of months before I start feeling normal again. In the meantime Jonny, Ben and Ian will be putting the finishing touches on our new record. I finished all of my drums in December so I’m going to take the next few months to get better. Unfortunately, we are going to have to pull out of playing Groezrock in Belgium in April. We were really looking forward to this as it was the perfect show to start touring this record. So many of our friends will be there and to share the stage with Refused was a dream come true. To all our fans in Belgium, we promise we will make this up to you. For now, please look forward to a new single soon and new album in July.

Ersatz haben die Groezrock-Veranstalter bereits eingetaktet: die bereits bestätigten Simple Plan werden den Platz von Billy Talent übernehmen, die neu bestätigten Good Riddance den Platz von Simple Plan.
Anbei noch ein Auszug aus dem Reuinion Statement von Good Riddance:
„… After nearly five years, Good Riddance has decided to perform as a band again. The number of shows, when and where and all the other specifics have yet to be determined but for those of us who really missed the songs and those of you who maybe never got to see the band play, there will be Good Riddance shows in 2012 and perhaps beyond.“
