springsix graz - festival for electronic art and music

springsix, the biggest festival for electronic art and music in Austria, is going into its 6th year in 2006, and will once again transform Graz into a throbbing metropolis of vivid pop-culture from May 24th onwards. Just like its predecessors the sixth update of the springfestival stands for keeping the party cutting edge: International electronic top acts, superstar DJs, visual artists, clubculture pioneers and forerunners will rock Graz along with the local DJ offspring, new electro upstarts and underground heroes. Every relevant location of the city will be declared a sumptuous party zone. This year’s festival will once again feature numerous musical highlights and premieres like Coldcut live, Carl Craig, Bugz in the Attic live, Felix Da Housecat, Optimo, Scratch Perverts feat. Dynamite MC, Ed Rush & Optical, Cristian Vogel live, Bucovina Club - Special with Shantel & Sophie Solomon live, Hell, Kraak & Smaak live, Krust, Fabio & MC Rage, Tayo John Acquaviva, Foreign Beggars live, Ark vs Krikor live, Pendulum & MC Verse, Silicone Soul, Jennifer Cardini, DK7 (aka Jesper Dahlbäck & Mark O Sullivan) live, Sebastian Leger, Bill Brewster, Lindstrom & Prins Thomas live ,General Midi & MC Jakes, Bernhard Fleischmann and many more. Besides all this springsix will be theoretically accompanied by readings and book presentations, various VJ workshops, audiolabs and lounge talks with famous DJs and artists. Here springsix stands within the tradition of other international festivals where sound does not only move your feet but also stimulates the thinking.

Seiji (Bugz In The Attic, London/UK)

As a founder member of the Bugz in the Attic crew, Seiji is one of the principal players in what’s been called the ‘Broken Beat’ scene, alongside IG Culture, fellow Bugz Afronaught and Kaidi Tatham, Dego MacFarlane, Domu, etc. He has been in demand as a producer/remixer under various guises across a spectrum of styles for several years now. Originally known for recording Drum & Bass in partnership with G-Force/Mark Force, his profile is now mainly due to his work as Seiji, Opaque and as part of Bugz in the Attic. Among some fleeting guises he’s also recorded soulful House/Garage as Homecookin’ (album out on Sole), Everyday People and USC for a wide selection of labels including Bugz own Bitasweet Records, 2000 Black, Ubiquity, 4hero’s Reinforced, Papa, Talkin’ Loud, Visions, Sonar Kollektiv, Laws Of Motion, Versatile, Archive, Island/Def Jam….the list goes on. Seiji’s reputation as a DJ has also been on the rapid increase over the past two years, touring Japan with Dego, taking in two US tours, and playing around the UK and Europe every week at some of the top cutting edge music clubs/events.2002 saw the release of the killer underground single ‘Loose Lips’ on BitaSweet. www.bugzintheattic.net
